Rabbi Avdimi Dman Chaifa was a Second and Third Generation Eretz Yisroel Amorah. In some places he is called Rav Dimi Dman Chaifa or Rabbi Avduma of Chaifa. He was a student of Rabbi Levi bar Sisi and Resh Lakish and his pupils included Rabbi Avahu, Rav Zeira and Rabbi Chelbo.

Teachings

  • Six miracles occurred on the day Chananya, Mishoel and Azarya were saved from the furnace of Nebuchadnezzar; 1) The furnace that was sunken in the ground rose up, for all to see. 2) As the furnace rose cracks created openings in its sealed walls to make the miracle more viewable. 3) All the soldiers from the 4 Kingdoms that partook in the attempted execution were consumed by fire. 4) Nebuchadnezzar himself became half burnt. 5) The large unmovable idol collapsed on its face. 6) Yechezkel brought the dry bones back to life in the Valley of Dura.

Rabbi Avdimi Dman Chaifa is buried in the Old Jewish cemetery on Yaffa Street in Haifa, Israel.
