==Leaving Eretz Yisroel==

Due to the harsh Roman decrees Rabbi Yochanan Hasandlar and Rabbi Elaza ben Shamua decided to leave Israel and go study by Rabbi Yehuda ben Besera in Nezivin, Bavel. When they reached Sidon, they yearned for Eretz Yisroel, they began weeping and tearing their garments. Then they turned back and went home saying living in Eretz Yisroel is equivalent to all the Mitzvot of the Torah.

==Kever Rabbi Yochanan Hasondlar==

Rabbi Yochanan Hasndlar is buried in Meron above the Ohel of [[Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai|Rebbe Shimon bar Yochai]]. A Tzion is built above the opening of a closed cave containing the actual Kever. Behind the Tzion is a small blue Kipa where a second overhead entrance was once broken into the cave. Near the kever is a cave where Rebbe Yochanan Hasandlar used to process the hides used to create the leather for his shoes.
