Rabbi Levitas ish Yavneh was a third generation Tana originating from the city of Yavneh. His original name was Levi was changed to Levitas since he was part of the Sanhedrin consisting of 70 members.
Rabbi Levitas ish Yavneh is buried in the cliffs outside Achbara in the ruins of Chakuv based on the testimony of Rabbi Chaim Vital in the name of the Arizal.
