Rabbi Shimon ben Elazar

Rabbi Shimon ben Elazar was a fifth generation Tana and a leading student of Rabbi Meir. He is only mentioned a few times in the Mishna but numerous times in the Tosefta, Brisos and Talmud.

Rabbi Shimon ben Elazar is buried in ancient Shazur which is now called Sajur, a village currently occupied by Druzim and Arabs. He is buried right near Rabbi Shimon Shizuri and in the vicinity of Rabbi Yishmoel Kohen Gadol.
