Rabbi Zerika was a fourth generation Amora. Originally form Bavel he studied under Rav Huna, Rav Yehuda and Rav Hamnuna. When he came to Eretz Yisroel he became known as Rabbi Zrikan. There he studied under Rabbi Yochanan and Resh Lakish. Rabi Elazar ben Pedat and Rabbi Ammi. Rabbi Zerika used to copy Baraitas and arrange them. His colleague was Rav Zeira.

He is buried in a cave along with Rav Sama and Rabbi Oshiya Zeira Dman Chevraya. In two nearby dug caves are the kivarim of Mar Ukva and Rabbi Levitas ish Yavneh.
